Adobe has made it easier with Lightroom 6 because they haven't released the standalone version for Academic use. I don't make any money using Adobe products such as Lightroom, so there's no way I'm going to pay a monthly rental fee. There are too many other excellent options.
Affinity Designer and Photo are two of the latest examples of software that will eventually replace Illustrator and Photoshop.
Donmontalvo Aug 3 Warning: this is a subscription. You're not paying for the software. You're paying to "rent" the software. No thanks. Bye Adobe. Finistere Jul 30 Steve-Hodgson Jun 23 Adobe is starting to look like an increasingly sleazy company. Updates to add new features to Lightroom are only rolled out to subscribers. Finistere Jun 23 In case someone is looking for the download link to the 6. Prince-Isaac Jun 17 Does anyone know how to buy a standalone upgrade from LR 5.
I've searched all over the Adobe site and can't find a thing. By "standalone" I mean the no subscription version. Any tips, please respond here. B-Jefferson-Le-Blanc Jun 16 Love the application. Hate the Adobe web site, where it's impossible for me to find a standalone download of the 6.
I finally updated through the application, which used the Adobe Update utility. But I like to archive copies of updates. Unfortunately, with Adobe, as with Apple, you cannot do that any more.
I won't rate the program because, while Lightroom is excellent, Adobe is not. Adobe Application Updater today updated my installation to 6. CDavid May 19 Great application, fast and efficient. At first sight, it seems to be a bit complicated, but within several days you get used to it. Phylo Apr 29 Until now, I was much satisfied with Adobe's applications, particularly Lightroom. Today, I found quiet impossible to download and buy their update Lightroom 6.
Absolutely aesthetic website, but impossible to download, buy the application, and no simple way to send a message or email. Where are you Adobe? Please keep it efficient!
Hi, is it worth up upgrade to LR6 Standalone? Pik80 Apr 22 I am very frustrated that Adobe doesn't provide the upgrade on Amazon. With all their security issues on Adobe. Pusfarm Apr 22 Despite what they say, Adobe is really not interested in the standalone version of Lightroom.
They make downloading it a major ordeal - still haven't found it, only their CC setup file. Direct links I've found have been shut down by Adobe.
I'm not ever going to rent software so this is the end of the line for my use of Lightroom and Adobe. How idiotic can they be to turn away paying customers?! B-Jefferson-Le-Blanc Apr 22 After checking out the new version of Lightroom on Adobe's web site, all of the mobile features listed above are available only with Lightroom CC. The stand-alone version of Lightroom 6 does not include these features. New features in LR 6 are listed as follows: Easily create HDR images Create superwide scenes with stunning panoramas Get faster performance Easily find photos of specific people with facial recognition Create video slide shows that include still images, music and effects Make HTML5-based web galleries Get better control of filters with the Filter Brush.
Noraa Apr 21 I'm very conflicted at this point. I really like Apple's Aperture, but it obviously is no longer being supported. It still works on Yosemite, but who knows if it will work with the next OS. Photos, while a great replacement for iPhoto, pails in comparison to Aperture. Thus, going forward, I'm pretty much left with either Capture One or Lightroom.
Lightroom seems to be the most popular, and is updated fairly regularly. However, while Lightroom has some really powerful editing tools, I find the whole program extremely cumbersome, especially when it comes to organization. One of my favorite aspects of Aperture was is? Organizing photos in Aperture is a piece of cake, and extremely powerful! I've played around with Lightroom a number of times, and while I'm sure given enough time I'll figure it all out, I found the organizational scheme to just be clunky and and overly complicated.
Blah, I'm tempted to just stick with Aperture, but am afraid it will one day just stop working. Dammit Apple, just keep supporting Aperture or come out with a new pro level photo tool! Geekkkker Apr 7 I like it! B-Jefferson-Le-Blanc Nov 30 I've had this update for more than a week now.
I thought I saw it here then; I don't know why its showing up again. Bigboysdad Nov 19 Version 5. Considering Aperture's support drop I couldn't consider it.
I got this to import DNG files which my phone's camera app could output natively and even GraphicConverter was turning them into empty, black files.
I finally sprang for a downloadable, subscription-free version of Lightroom impossible through Adobe's site, impossible! It's like a separate application with the toolset I used most from Photoshop over the years! I'm mostly excited because I finally see what the fuss over RAW support is all about. Lossless formats don't compare to being able to work with RAW data. Yeah, news to me! Funjoy Aug 10 I've been using this since version 3.
Still, this remains a great app and has no peer at this time. RunTime Jul 31 Wow almost mb? Oh my, what's next? Lightroom 5. The update includes support for new lenses, cameras and bug fixes. Also includes the Fuji film presets update which is what I have been waiting for,for my XS. Holypoly Apr 8 New version 5. Just works as you would expect unlike Aperture and iPhoto. Handles anything I can throw at it and great tools for easily enhancing my photographs, aand alot cheaper then Photoshop.
Bigboysdad Oct 28 JanyeB Sep 20 Adobe Lightroom 5x is just great. ChristopherGrant Jun 26 Regular updates, consistent new features, consistent patch updates. Strong selective editing tools. Fairly fast in cataloging features. CONS: Non-mac like experience. Certain selective editing tools are slow. There has been a lot of other sharing features that have been added in the space. You can now transfer the projects that you have created to the social media platform and make the world know about the quality of the work that you create in the social media space.
Sharpening images in Adobe Lightroom CC is definitely a well-touched feature that will make sure that it is proper and well-organized. The biggest highlight with the images created with Lightroom is that the sharpening tools that are used in the platform make sure that there is a better methodology in sharpening the images.
The biggest highlight is that now you can carry over your already working on projects offline. This will greatly improve the ways in which you can actually work with the system. Offline working has been the most expected feature by the Adobe community for a very long time and that means with the release of such a feature, it is definitely good days ahead for the lightroom CC suite.
The system requirements of the Adobe lightroom are one of the most crucial ones and it definitely needs to be met to make sure that there are no problems in working with the software. Do not by-pass the requirements as that may put an immaculate amount of stress on the processor. The installer file for the Adobe Lightroom CC is available below and make sure that you have met the minimum requirements of the system before you proceed with the download of the ISO file of the software.

Adobe for whatever reason don't think that users need to print any photos. You can make them as pretty as you want, but you cannot then print them from LIghtroom, you need to export the image and print in something else.
I have no idea why a photo app wouldn't be able to print, other than Adobe thinking they know better than their users who have been asking for this since day 1. But now that i needed to look it up how to do it with this app and ask questions it turns out this app doesnt have that, and infact seems to just have basic editing applications such as contrast and color and cropping.
So if youre someone who needs an app for just fixing color and contrast, then this is for you. I purchased Lightroom about a month ago and I am new to using Lightroom. There is no Red Eye removal tool, this seems like a big omission for a software package oriented towards photography. I am trying to process some older photographs that were digitized and due to using the flash a lot back then, there are a lot of red eyes to remove.
I was very surprised that this tools was not available since I have been using other tools for years that have this feature. It appears that Lightroom classic had this feature judging by the number of videos on the web that show how to do it. Too bad Adobe is forcing everyone to a subscription model so there is not a way to purchase the classic version. Other features are very nice. The auto setting for editing photos is good so that saves a lot of time.
Also the Healing Tool is very nice for fixing dirt spots and other unwanted artifacts. I am still on the fence on whther I am going to keep this subscription so far I am very undecided on whether it is worth it for me. The developer, Adobe Inc.
